Clonie Gowen (Short for: Cycalona Gowen), grew up in
Kiowa, Oklahoma. Clonie was always big into sports in high
school. She played on a state championship basketball team
and was ranked 7th in the high jump on the track and field
team. At 15, Clonie was crowned as Miss Teen McAlester,
Oklahoma.
She started playing poker while living in Dallas. She used to drive down to Shreveport, Louisiana on weekends and usually won a few hundred dollars every week. Clonie’s popularity really exploded in 2003 when she had a top 10 finish at the WPT Costa Rica Classic and with her win at the World Poker Tour Ladies' Night. Since then, Clonie has gone on to cash in over 20 live tournament events making over $400,000. Clonie recently appeared in Maxim magazine, and has been seen in many of the popular poker magazines. Clonie is also a regular columnist for Bluff magazine, the official magazine of the World Series of Poker. Now 32, Gowen currently works for Full Tilt Poker as one of their Professional Players. She plays many tournaments online and is often spotted playing the high stakes cash games, both Omaha and holdem.
