Rumor mills a churning after the Poker After Dark event aired with Patrick, Gus Hansen and Roland De Wolfe. Some of the rumors suggest that Patrick Antonious is one that many other Poker Pro’s have little enjoyment for. During the show and live poker play very little discussion was held between Antonious and any of the other players. That is typical of Antonious, as he tends to be the silent shark. De Wolfe and Hansen however did enjoy some friendly banter and jokes, some at Antonious’ expense. This lead to the rumor mill becoming more audible.
Patrick is undoubtedly one of the best poker professionals on the circut today, however this silent shark is one that preys on his competition from a comfortable separation. Across the poker table he is a man to be reckoned with, but not one that will be bantered or return the favor very often. It is being speculated that is why there may be some disdain for him.

Online Forums have been abuzz lately after Jonas ‘Nebuchad’ Danielsson made a little slip up at the Scandinavian Poker Awards last week. When Daniel Negreanu asked what his screen name meant, Jonas replied that someone from a magazine told him that Nebuchad was the first king in Babylon to deal with “the Jew problem”. He clearly wasn’t implying there is a “Jew problem” but many people quickly took his words out of context. Here is the original video:
Later Danielsson sat down with SikTilt and told them that he was very nervous during the awards which is why he made the unintentional slip up.
I think people need to let this one go, as it was pretty clear it was misinterpretation.
Phil Hellmuth is up to his regular antics again on the hit TV show Poker After Dark. In a recent episode, him and Shawn Sheikhan go at it again and Phil goes on MASSIVE TILT! Check out the video:

The Pocket Five’s forum is abuzz with players who are wondering if change is about to come within the US online poker industry. Many hold out hope that within the upcoming elections, our newly elected leaders will see the unconstitutionality of the UIGEA and make some long overdue changes. While this would be a huge win for US poker players, whether the outcome of the election will affect the legalities and formalities that complicate the current online poker situation in this country, only time will tell.As the document stands, the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) has very strategically worded clauses that seem to unfairly target the online poker industry within this country. Should the wording be only slightly altered or amended, it would be fairly simple to establish a US-based online poker room, completely in line with all federal guidelines. However, the individual laws of the states are where the real issues come into play. Some of these laws are subject to excessive fines and even felony charges.
Some of the wording that leaves poker players so exasperated is the references to the legality of entry and other fees on a game of skills, rather than a game of chance. As the current classification stands, the UIGEA considers poker to be in the latter category. However, other card games, such as Spades or Hearts, are considered games of skill. How is the deal of cards a chance within poker, yet a skill in other card games? Why would it be legal to pay to play in a Spades tournament, but illegal to pay to play in a poker tournament? Seems to be a bit unfair in the reasoning and biased against the poker world.
Gus Hansen’s down turn’s never go unnoticed by the poker community. This is particularly true when you are looking at it from the - who’s still got bankroll - perspective. This topic in the 2+2 forum has been an ongoing chatter for years. Not just Gus either. Any poker player who wants to noticed as a talented player is put under the microscope of success - with a bankroll focus.Antonio Esfondiari recently announced that his bankroll is gone. Says a lot about this player who has been referenced as one of the best poker players in the world. He was forced to sell his home and rent a place instead. Will he return to the professional poker tournament scene? If he does will it just result in similar poor bankroll management?
Of course every poker player’s favorite brat - Phil Hellmuth is always under scrutiny. Some on the forum believe he will never be a match for Ivey, nor will he ever get to keep his endorsement money because he won’t stop challenging Ivey across a poker table, who appears to enjoy having Hellmuth pay his bills.
With all of that in mind, who really is a poker professional? To give you a clue, Gus Hansen made his entire bankroll deficit back in Australia. Where do you stand?
