Playboy and the Poker Babe

Jennifer Leigh, AKA Jennicide, is making a poker world splash, once again. This time her headlines have nothing to do with her cards. Well not her poker cards.

As the summer of 2007 came to an end, the forums lit up with the rumor that she might be appearing in a fall issue of the mega mens magazine Playboy. The attention she got was interesting to say the least, however the rumor mill fell quite and nothing more was said, until a few days ago.

This online poker temptress is now a Playboy Babe, appearing in the April issue, showcasing her non poker assets. 2+2 is alive with buzz about it, and pocket 5’s players saying nothing but she is still in the fore front.

The discussion in 2+2 started on the 6th, and is still being discussed with more than 5 pages in just the first few hours it was posted. Some who have competed against her online have a variety of things to say. Some of those comments were less than flattering about her poker game, but few could deny she belonged in Playboy.

So what poker babe do you think Playboy could ’showcase’ next?

18-Year Old Mike McDonald Wins EPT Dortmund

Mike McdonaldAfter 3 days of poker the Pokerstars EPT in Dortmund has come to an end with 18 year old Mike Mcdonald the winner. Macdonald (smiling on the left with a mouthful of braces) entered the poker scene only 6-months ago and in the last 5 weeks has already cashed in for over $1.5 Million Dollars.

Currently studying at the University of Waterloo (in his 3rd semester) in Ontario, Canada, Mcdonald will have to make a tough decision to continue with school, or persue a career as a professional poker player.

In the final hand German player, Andreas Gulunay, tried to bluff Mcdonald out of the hand. Unfortunately for Gulunay, Mcdonald was very strong and held the best hand. Here is the recap from the pokerstars blog:

“After a series of pots going his way the crowd were getting behind their man Andreas. On a flop of K-7-J Andreas checked and Mike bet 120k. Andreas then made it 300k which was called and it was already a big pot when on the turn, a king, Andreas made it 300k, which again Mike called. A deuce on the river - a 1.4million pot - Andreas moved all-in and with little persuasion Mike called. It was quickly clear why he did so quickly - A-K for the Canadian - the winning hand at the EPT Dortmund.”

Final table result of EPT Dortmund

1st — Mike McDonald – Canada — €933,600
2nd — Andreas Gulunay – Germany — €528,500
3rd — Torsten Haase – Germany — €307,000
4th — Diego Perez – Spain — €234,200
5th — Claudio Rinaldi – Switzerland — €193,000
6th — Johannes Strassmann – Germany — PokerStars sponsored player — €152,000
7th — Thibaut Durand – France — €120,200
8th — Christian Harder – United States – PokerStars qualifier — €85,500

Brandi Sextape?

Just when you hoped the drama was gone, it now appears that Brandi has released a sex tape to get back at Brandon thanks to the reporting by the guys over at Wicked Chops Poker.  The tape starts off as “Dedicated to Brandon” and features a woman that looks very much like Brandi giving a guy a blowjob.

The tape came about after pimprexel (Brandon’s account) at NWP made this post.  This is clearly NSFW!

Online Poker Tip - Favorites? No

Many people come into the game of Poker with a favorite hands mindset. As much as you need to have a plan, and perhaps a handful of strong starting hands, you do not need to play favorites strictly. There are pot odds in all that you do around the poker table.   Keep the odds in your favor, and play a variety of hands. Do not stake the bankroll on one given hand. Most definatly do not play a hand that needs to draw out a win, because that may not happen. For example if you favorite cards like 7c and 9d because you drew out a draw the last time you played, you may find your chip stack and bankroll diminish faster than you thought possible.

Poker is a game of strategy for a reason. You will not always get the cards you want, when you want them. You will not win every hand, but you can plot a course of action that keeps the pot odds in your favor. This means keeping an open mind about what cards you are dealt and will play.
