Boku87 Wins Bet
Over the past week or so a prop bet has been going on where a player, Boku87, claimed he could turn $100 into $10,000 in just 15 days. The rules were layed out as follows by Boku87 himself:
“Rules for 100$ into 10000$ in 15 days
1. I have 15 days from starting point meaning 360 hour. Starting point will be 3rd March 1:00 p.m. Central european time. So it will end 18th March 12:59 p.m.
2. I can only play Sngs with a maximum buy in of 16$
3. 180man or 90man do not count
4. If I go broke at any point I lost the bet
5. Profit only, Rakeback and Bonus, player transfers or BoP cashes do not count
6. I will have to run a webcam when I play. You can see it at www.justin.tv/Boku87
7. I won the bet as soon as I reached a 10000$ bankroll meaning I made 9900$ in Profit. Progress can be tracked with sharkscope
8. Money must be sent before the bet starts to the Pokerstars escrow account P5contest (Isle of men)
9. I get 3-1 odds so for every 100$ from me I will get 300$ from you.
10. I will bet up to 30K to your 90K
11. People who bet against me are not allowed to play at my tables unless it is their regular limits to create a realistic atmosphere for micro stakes playing.”
Several people took his bet and in total $40,000 was wagered against him. In day 1 Boku had grinded his $100 up to $422 playing only $1 18 and 45 man sit n go’s. If you logged in to Pokerstars and searched for “Boku87″ you would see that he was playing 40-50 tables at a time which is insane! (If you don’t believe me, look here). I can do maybe 4-max before I start getting confused.
The first day increase had some of his bettors a little concerned. If he continued on this path at the higher levels there was no doubt he would make his goal.
Day after day he continued to increase his bankroll quickly moving up in levels. He played $3, then $6 then $12 then $16 with a mix of 18 and 45 man games. There were really only two major drops where he went down $1000 but quickly recovered and continued to add to his bankroll.
After struggling for a few days around days 8-10, Boku realized that he was playing too many tables and cut back from 50 to just 30 tables (still practically impossible for the average poker player). This helped him recover nicely and put him back on his winning path.
On Day 14 (yesterday), Boku87 announced on his blog that the he had finished his challenge. If you were watching his webcam that day you would have seen him smiling cheek to cheek (see above).

PokerStars (who had been very involved in the bet, even performing as an escrow) generously offered a $10,000 freeroll for all players that lost in the bet.
Here is the final chart from the period of the bet:
