David Steicke Takes Lead at APPT Macau High Rollers Event
The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau High Rollers tournament kicked off an exciting day of action. At the end of Day 1 of the event, sixty three players were narrowed down to twenty eight with the $10,000,000 HKD guaranteed prize pool just within reach.
David Paul Steicke completed Day 1 of the PokerStars.net APPT Macau High Rollers event as chip leader with 158,400 and is vying for the first prize of $3,800,000 HKD. At the Main Event last week, Steicke fell just short of the final table which was won by 22 year old PokerStars online qualifier, Edward Sabat. Steicke finished in 10th place, taking home $126,430 HKD in that event.
Right behind Steicke in second place, is Canadian Mike McDonald with 95,400 in chips. McDonald holds a very narrow lead over third place, PokerStars sponsored player Eric Assadourian who has 90,500 in chips. The New Zealand Poker Champion will clash with Steicke on Day 2 when they meet on table 14.
Team PokerStars Pros who will be moving on to Day 2 include world champion Joe Hachem, former Crown Australian Poker Champion Lee ‘Final Table’ Nelson and Barry Greenstein. Joining them on Day 2 will be PokerStars sponsored players Terrence Chan, Johnny Chan and Van Marcus.
