Donk Down – Microgaming packs up in the US

Apparently Microgaming has announced that they’re leaving the US poker market. No wait. They have announced only that they pulled the plug by IP blocking 13 US states but now word is that they’re pulling out the US all together. While Kentucky seemed to be the catalyst for the last block, sources aren’t sure why they’re pulling out entirely.

There’s some speculation that the ban may only include new accounts but established users in some states are claiming that they can’t login today. Although one major client, Doyle’s Room remains available as of this writing. Off the record, it’d be nice to see them pull out so that Doyle’s Room would switch to a decent poker client. Microgaming sucks!

The current states affected are: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, and Utah. Although we don’t really count Utah since it’s full of Mormons (they don’t play poker do they?). Possible rooms impacted by the ban include: 32Red Poker, Intertops Poker, Crazy Poker, PokerTime, Royal Vegas Poker, Ladbrokes, Betway, Unibet, Pokerwize, Doyle’s Room, Jennings Poker, Gnuf, and Eurolinx

It’s going to be interesting to see what else falls out next week after the supposed ban will take place (November 10). Stay tuned for any updates.
