EPT Barcelona Day 2

The action on day 2 at the PokerStars EPT Barcelona event was fast and furious as the field thinned out. Lots of pre-flop action saw all-ins from many of the games biggest names and unfortunately, many had the short end of the stick. Sent to the rail were players such as Rafe Furst (no word on whether he had hand puppet ala WSOP 2007) and Glen Chorny who was top 10 in chips from Day 1.

After many hours of play the magic number 65 was reached with the top 64 players each guaranteed to cash in this event. Felipe Ramos was the poor sap to lose a race with his AK against Danele Mazzia’s pocket Queens. The board actually improved Danele’s hand with a Queen coming on the flop. Felipe got no help from there to finish just outside of the money in 65th place.

Movers and shakers included Jason Mercier and Chad Brown who took their momentum from strong Day 1 performances and parlayed that into another top 10 spot after Day 2 action concluded. Once the dust settled the top ten chip counts look like this:

Davidi Kitai
544,500
Dren Ukella 374,500
Daniele Mazzia 374,000
Stephen Chidwick 355,000
Jason Mercier 345,000
Steven Weusten 332,000
Sebastian Ruthenberg 326,000
Michael Keiner 293,000
Chad Brown 259,000
Jonas Klausen 237,000
