Fox Poker Closes Doors in Sudden Move

The Fox Poker Club, one of the long standing poker venues, suddenly announced it closure on Facebook. The Fox Poker Club announced its closure via a statement published on Facebook. The same notice was also put up the website which confirmed the news stating, “It is with regret that Genting UK Plc today announces that the Fox Poker Club will cease operation. The Management and Staff of Fox Poker Club would like to thank all of its customers for supporting the venture over the past two years. Further information will be released shortly.”

However, some players in the poker community were not all that surprised and are perhaps even gladdened by the news of the Fox Poker Club closing down. Some blame Genting for mismanagement ever since it took control of the site last year. A post on the popular Two Plus Two Forum regarding the incident reads, “Color me not that surprised. Not only was the place horribly managed since the Genting take-over, sounds like Genting wants to take advantage of their full casino license and turn it into a casino, which I don’t get (there are already two full casinos very close by…).”

Eventually the company issued a press release that stated that financial concerns were the reason behind the closure. “We have carefully reviewed the performance of the Fox Poker Club over the last few months and it has unfortunately become clear that despite offering a dedicated venue and the best efforts of our staff, there is insufficient demand for the club in its current format.”

However, for those poker players who will be disappointed with the news of the closing of Fox Poker Club its statements on Twitter would be of some reassurance. The poker room tweeted: “The club may be closed but the location will be refurbished and reborn in spring 2013 as an exciting new Genting venue.”
