History – Macau Standings Reviewed

Day One in Macau saw world champion Scotty Nguyen give the ceremonious order to shuffle up and deal, at the first No Limit Texas Hold’Em poker tournament held within the People’s Republic of China.

The main event in Macau drew a full field of 352 players to the 2500 USD buy in event. Competing in this field were some of the top names in the poker industry today. Joe and Tony Hachem, Mansour Matlobi, Scotty Nguyen, and of course Team PokerStars competitors Vanessa Rousso, Hevad Khan and others. Also making an appearance is the impressive Liz Lieu. The field alone shows the impression this historic competition has on the poker world.

The field was knocked down to 77 players seeking the first prize of 8,222,460 USD. The chip leader at open on day two is Tobias Schulze a poker professional from Germany. He finished day one with a chip lead of 179 thousand chips. The chip average at the end of the day was just over 45 thousand, which Liz Lieu finished significantly down there from, after a wild day at the felt.

Some well known names not in this top 77 are Mansour Matlobi and Vanessa Rousso of Team PokerStars. Not that Team PokerStars is shaken as many more of them are still chasing first place and the historic title of the first champion in Macau.

Play resumed with 77 players on day two and it narrowed down to the televised final table, and play has begun. The final table seats are as follows:
