Jake Cody Joins Team PKR Poker
While PokerStars has dropped professional poker players JP Kelly and Juan Maceiras Lapido from Team PokerStars, PKR Poker has included British professional poker player Jake Cody into Team PKR.
The break of ties between PokerStars and Kelly and Lapido is almost complete. The US online poker PokerStars website no longer has their profile pages; moreover, their names can no longer be found in its list of players. Kelly has also changed his Twitter name from @JPKellyStars to @JP_Kelly5.
This recent breakup has surprised the online poker gaming community because both Kelly and Lapido are top poker achievers. Kelly had won two WSOP 2009 events, which was what earned him a place in Team PokerStars in the first place. Lapido, the third largest-earning Spanish professional poker player, joined the team two years back.
While PokerStars was dropping two of its sponsored players, PKR Poker was including Jake Cody into its team. The youngest of the four players who have won the Triple Crown for winning events at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), the European Poker Tour (EPT), and the World Poker Tour (WPT), Cody will now play for PKR at international live poker events as well as online poker events.
Cody, who began his poker gaming career making a $10 deposit, says that he is thrilled that he is now part of PKR Poker. He said: “I’m very excited about joining Team PKR Pro. I’ve been patient with sponsorship, waiting for the right deal to come along. When I spoke to PKR, I was really impressed with the whole set-up and the ideas that they have going forward, and I knew straight away I wanted to be part of it.”
Team PKR Poker now has 7 talented young poker players. Besides Cody, Team PKR comprises Sascha Walter, Marc Bariller, James Sudworth, Sofia Lovgren, Scott Shelly, and Vladimir Geshkenbein
