According to the latest announcement from Ladbrokes, the major gambling company and online sportsbook will be leaving Microgaming and joining iPoker Network, a Playtech offering. Although the online poker room hasn’t moved yet, it has issued a press release, in which it states that it will shift “in due course.”
The partnership deal between Playtech and Ladbrokes will first introduce a brand new tab called Vegas at Ladbrokes.com, and players who click on it will access a huge portfolio of casino games rolled out not only by Playtech, but also other online gambling content providers. Although the exact date of Ladbrokes’ migration to iPoker Network is not known, it is quite obvious that the online gambling operator intends to lose no time. Ladbrokes had gone live on Microgaming back in 2009.
Speaking about the shift, Mor Weizer, chief executive officer for Playtech, said that Ladbrokes impending migration to iPoker serves as an exciting opportunity for Playtech to “play a key role in delivering material growth to Ladbrokes Digital business” in the near future. He further said that the power of the Ladbrokes brand, its recently upgraded gambling technology, and “Playtech’s proven track record in growing digital revenues through advanced e-commerce and digital marketing” together has a lot of potential.
Right now, Ladbrokes is among the biggest online poker rooms on Microgaming Network, attracting the 10th largest poker player traffic worldwide. The fourth biggest online poker network as far as real money poker cash games are concerned, the iPoker Network lags behind top online poker rooms such as Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars, and Party Poker. Prestigious online poker rooms such as Everest Poker, Titan Poker, Bet365, Winner Poker, William Hill Poker, and others form part of this network, which will soon accept Betfair Poker too.
This announcement has increased Ladbrokes shares by 6.9 percent.
