Mats Sundin Joins PokerStars
PokerStars.com will be making a big announcement for hockey fans tomorrow night. Their latest signing is none other than hockey great Mats Sundin.
The news came about in a radio interview this morning on AM640 radio in Toronto. Sundin didn’t get too much in detail about the signing but said that there will be a big press release tomorrow.
Sundin is the second big sports personality to be signed to Team Pokerstars since Boris Becker.
The story was also picked up by a local blogger, but there really isn’t too much to say about it.
Sports personalities seem to be the latest trend for poker sites to go after to help raise brand awarness. Just a few weeks ago many different sites were vying for the attention of swimming phenomenon Michael Phelps.
Who do you think will be the next major signing? Tiger Woods? Kobe Bryant? I guess only time will tell.
UPDATE: This story has been confirmed by PokerStars.com. In the interview Mats said, “I am very proud to become an ambassador for PokerStars. It means I will be more able to fulfill my personal ambition of working with charities around the world and I will be donating 100 percent of the money I earn from playing poker to charity,” he said. “For me, the combination of excitement and challenge in poker, plus the potential to support good causes is a win-win situation.”
Mats will be playing on Pokerstars under the username “MatsSundin“. To play against him, visit PokerStars.com and use Marketing Code BRB500 when signing up to get $600 free on your first deposit of $50.
