The Mohegan Sun Casino has been looking to expand its online poker offerings and has decided to partner with an online poker network. The Ongame Poker Network, headed by Amaya Gaming will be the partner of Mohegan Sun in this enterprise.
According to Mitchell Etess, CEO for Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, “Mohegan Sun needs a provider who has outstanding regulatory experience and flexibility to offer intra-state play-for-free poker at first, and the technology to enable real money online poker when it is legalized. We are proud to announce that this partner is Ongame.”
Ongame will provide the online poker offerings for Mohegan Sun and will be offering free play online poker by the next year. As of now, Mohegan only has an online casino that also offers free play. However, it must be noted that both the Mohegan Sun and Ongame Network are waiting for the region to authorize real money online poker play.
Mitchell Etess also discussed the purpose of the deal, “Our goal is always to provide our guests with the best gaming and entertainment offerings and we believe iGaming is the next step in fulfilling the demand for regulated online play when customers aren’t able to be on property.”
Both companies are happy with the agreement and are looking forward to profiting from this venture. As this is the first online poker offering from Ongame Poker, it has been a matter of importance for them to have decided on a good provider. According to Peter Bertillson, Ongame’s Managing Director, “It is exciting to be part of the move online for one of the most dynamic and expansive casino operators in the United States. Mohegan Sun is the second largest casino site in the United States and it will be very exciting to be a partner in their online gaming operations as this becomes an important part of their future business strategy.”
