Negreanu Supports Ivey’s Fight Against Full Tilt Poker
Daniel Negreanu has decided to stand against Full Tilt Poker and for Phil Ivey as a response to Full Tilt’s statement against Ivey. Daniel Negreanu was not required to choose sides but he has done so on his own accord. Negreanu even congratulated Phil on going against Full Tilt Poker.
As reported last week, Phil Ivey had decided to sue Full Tilt Poker due to the US poker sites inability to make payments to him and other players. Ivey has also decided that he will not be taking part in the tournament of the World Series of Poker this year. Ivey stated that he was doing this in order to side with the US poker players who did not get paid due to the recent shutdown of poker sites.
Negreanu seems to have become a fan of Ivey after this decision of his. According to Negreanu, Ivey is standing up for something that believes in and giving up playing poker at the WSOP, which is something that he loves.
After hearing Full Tilt’s statement regarding Ivey, Negreanu has called Full Tilt “low class” and also said that he would never want to work with a company that does not consider the people they have to pay.
Although Ivey received the support of another Full Tilt player Eric Froehlich, he said that he was taking this stand for his own benefit and that it is still a good thing to do.
It may seem that everyone is on Ivey’s side but there are a few poker professionals who have criticized him for being selfish. AndrewRobl stated that Ivey was being self-serving and that he should rather do what Tom Dwan did when he took a vow to pay players back from his own profit when Full Tilt did not do the same, back at that time. Ivey is also said to own some shares of Full Tilt and hence has been criticized.
