Patrik Antonius on Being a Poker Pro
Patrik Antonius has made an appearance on the 2+2 poker forum today in a post entitled “What`s all part of being a pro?“. Patrik responded the following about what life is like as a poker pro:
“When i first became a professional , eating and excercising were most important to me for the physical and mental benefits it would bring me in poker. When you look good you feel good and when you feel good you play good. So everyday i would wake up and eat a healthy breakfast followed by a workout at the gym or play a little tennis. I would then come home relax then play online or live. I never aimed to get a specific amount of hours in at the table or specific amount of hands online. For me, i didnt want to feel pressured to play more than i was comfortable playing just to make a specific goal that really had no signifigance. To this day i still dont play long sessions because I try to have complete focus when im playing and that really takes alot out of me and to do this for a long period of time, i would not have 100% concentration and more importantly i would be finding poker as a real “job” and nussiance and not the game game ive grown to love and been fortunate enough to play for a living. Poker is not a grind or 9-5 job for me so i never really take any planned vacations or breaks mainly because i just enjoy playing the game. I will go on vacation will my wife and daughter or go back to Finland to visit family occasionally during the year, but i never plan on taking time off to get away from poker. if i feel i need the break, then i will just take the break. Most of what i do in life is just based on how i feel.
