PKR Playing Matchmaker
The now defunct site comeoutpoker.com tried to get gay poker players to connect via playing online. That didn’t work out too well as the site as the site is now nothing more than a domain squatter’s property. Despite that, it appears that PKR is trying the same scheme with a twist. They’re apparently targeting straight people and trying to leverage the network of a dating site called LoveStruck.com to help bridge the gap.
With a series of poker nights that are intended to help the singles meet in person, the two companies will host the first event in London on November 6 at The Hoxton Pony. Entry is free and the live dealers are also offering classes to teach the game of poker, not dating, to the attendees. Called “Lovestruck Evenings”, the series will be a combination of live freerolls and small buy-in events hosted at PKR.
According to PKR Marketing Director Simon Prodger, this is a perfect “marriage” of sorts, “Poker is a very social game and we know our players actively chat both in the game and on our forums. We’ve seen romance bloom on PKR and so partnering with a site like Lovestruck that caters to young, outgoing professionals is perfect for us.”
