President Obama to Play 2009 WSOP
Well, not exactly, but President Barack Obama currently holds a 2009 WSOP Main Event buy-in in his hand. According to poker player (and relatively unknown) Richard Sklar on PokerNews TV, he handed the president a WSOP buy-in at Ceasars Palace inviting him to play the event for free.
Nobody believed Sklar would be able to get Obama to play, and several poker players offered him ridiculous odds on prop bets. Phil Gordon gave him 100,000 to 1 on a $1 bet for Sklar and Greg Mueller, and Chris Ferguson gave the 2 25,000 to 1 odds on a $20 bet. So, if Obama ends up playing Sklar will receive $1,200,000 in prop bets. He has even gone as far to email Obama and has promised to donate $1 Million to the charity of Obama’s choice.
I highly doubt the president will show as that would probably be a secret service nightmare, but regardless, it would be awsome for poker if Obama did come. Here is the video with Sklar talking about Obama:
