The November Streak
The Great Dane is at it again. Full Tilt is the playground for poker Super Star Gus Hansen. This former backgammon competitor has had many quality runs on Full Tilt in the past, but none like this month, and it’s not over yet.
According to statements Hansen released to a Danish paper, he started the month out on a down swing, competing well, but not playing his chips well. Money management was not his strong suit. Then a few days into the month, he won more than 1.7 million (USD) in four days. He did this playing one of his favorites, Pot Limit Omaha, at times up to 4 tables at once. Typically he played in the 200/400-dollar tables, which in leman’s terms meant he wasn’t playing without some competition. When he got board of Omaha, he would venture into H.O.R.S.E.
Even with the challenging players like Patrik Antonius (FinddaGrind) and Ilari Sahamies (Ziigmund), he had some good hands with large pots fall his way. Some of the more interesting aspects of his current November streak include:
A Full House that arrived on the river against Sahamies, who got a nut straight in the flop and was favored to win, the Hansen banked more than 167 thousand dollars.
Against Patrik Antonius, he won 147 thousand dollar pot when he flopped a nut straight.
He landed a runner-runner straight against ‘google12345’, banking 104 thousand dollars. When the competition went all in on the flop, Gus Hansen had a top pair, not a real draw, while google12345 had a set of his own.
Later against ‘trex313’ he landed a two outer on the river winning him yet another 105 thousand.
If you’re keeping count, that so far totals Gus Hansen at more than 2 million dollars since November 1st. He ended his comments to Ekstrabladet, saying, “I hope my good run continues”.
