WSOP Premiers Tonite on ESPN

After a nearly four month break, ESPN will begin airing the most anticipated poker event of the year.  The World Series of Poker $10,000 buy in no limit hold’em main event is set to premier tonite at 5 p.m. PT beginning with this year’s tournament leading up to the final table.

The original field of 6,844 players was split into four day ones and will be the focus of the initial episodes.  The day one fields quickly narrowed as play got under way as the number below show:

The WSOP main event will continue to air Tuesday nights from September 9 through October 28 but at a new time slot of 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.  During those episodes, ESPN will cover the action down to the final table of nine.  A final table preview show will air on November 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. PT.  The final table will reassemble November 9 where the final players will play down to heads up.  On November 10, playing for the more than $9.1 million first place prize, the final two players will begin the battle to determine the winner of the 2008 World Series of Poker.  Viewers will be reintroduced to the final nine when the final table episode airs on November 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. PT.
