Best US Poker Sites

Top US Online Poker Rooms

US PokerEver since the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act it has become increasingly difficult for Americans to find a good poker site that accepts players from the US.

Before getting into the details of the current best poker rooms, let me first give you some background on the US poker history.  Online Poker really got its boost from the support of Americans, but many of the good sites like party poker all decided to stop accepting players from the United States after the bill was passed.  At one point Party Poker was one of the top 2 poker sites for Americans, but this has since dropped massively and they only rank in number 4 in traffic levels of all poker sites overall now (as of April 2008).  This really opened the doors for other major poker sites like Pokerstars.com and FullTiltPoker.com who capitalized on this and have seen major growth since 2006.

So, without further adieu, we have put together a list of the best online poker sites that are US friendly and compatible with most of the accepted deposit options for American poker players.  As always with any of our top poker site lists, if you are from the USA and disagree with any of these poker sites in the list, send us an email and tell us why it isn't the best poker site for Americans.

Top 5 Poker Sites for Americans

We have personally tested over 50 different poker sites, and based on this testing have come to the conclusion that these are the best poker sites that accept Americans.  We rank sites based on several factors which include traffic levels, promotions, regular tournaments, game variety, support, security, player loyalty programs, and of course whether they take US players.

PokerStars

Pokerstars as the number one site goes without saying!  They have the highest traffic volumes of any poker sites, the biggest tournaments, and some big name pros like Daniel Negreanu.  Anyone that plays online poker has an account at Poker Stars.  This is where the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is played with huge prizes and Championship bracelets.  There are Million Dollar Tournaments every week on Poker Stars.  If you don't have an account yet, it should not be missed.  Here is a cool version of the software with a US Flag Skin:

Bodog Poker

Bodog Poker Review

If you haven't heard of their poker site, you have probably heard of Bodog Fight, the Bodog Sportsbook, or maybe even Bodog music which has groups like the Wu Tang Clan and many more.  Bodog Poker is very image oriented and tries to be the "cool" place to play, which has become a favourite with American poker players.  They have great tournaments, they sponsor some of the greatest players, and they have a really good player loyalty program.
Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker Review

Full Tilt Poker is really fighting to become number one in online poker! They have the FTOPS which has a guaranteed prize pool of over $10 Million Dollars (with qualifiers for only $2.25) plus a ton of other huge tournaments. They have tons of promotions and great player retention. It is also home to all the pro poker players (including Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Howard Lederer and more) that you can actually see playing at the tables. They don't quite have the traffic levels of PokerStars, and the competition is a little tougher, but its still definitely one of the best sites out there for US players.
Carbon Poker

Formerly Poker.com, Carbon Poker is a great site for players that are looking to play low stakes texas holdem, and build a bankroll from nothing. They offer tons of freerolls every day so you can literally grind your way from nothing to build your bankroll. They also have some great promotions for all major tournaments such as the WSOP, WPT, Aussie Millions and many more!
Ultimate Bet

Ultimate Bet Review

Phil Hellmuth plays here. Need I say any more? Just kidding. UB offers a great loyalty program where you can get things like iPods, they have some great tourneys where you don't have to play against 1000s of players to make it to a final table, and their site is overall quite busy. They have great of big tourneys where you can win a trip to the 2008 WSOP or to their own Aruba Poker Classic.
