What is a Sit N Go (Turbo Sit and Go)

What is a Sit N Go?

A Sit N Go (or Sit and Go) is a non-scheduled poker tournament where players can join a table whenever they please and play against a limited number of players. Sit and Go tournaments are typically a single table, but can also consist of multiple tables. Players buy-in to these tournaments and the prize pool is typically split amongst the top 3 players.

Prizes Payouts for Sit and Go's are typically:
1st: 50%
2nd: 30%
3rd: 20%

As mentioned before sit n go’s are usually one table of ten people. There are also heads up sit n go’s, 6 people sit and go’s, 15 person sit n go’s and even 20 and 30 player sit n go’s. The more players, the larger the prize pool for the winners.

On most online poker sites, players start with 1500 chips. Some sit n go’s have more chips and some less, but 1500 is typically the standard. The blind levels increase every 5 or 10 minutes in normal sit and go’s.

Turbo Sit N Go’s (Turbo Sit and Go’s)

In a turbo sit n go, players start with less chips and the blinds increase every 3 minutes (instead of the usual 5-10 minutes). Turbo sit and go’s require players to act faster and have a looser play style (meaning they will play a larger variety of hands). Often players will put all of their chips in early to try and quickly double their stack. By doing this, it allows them to sit back and wait for better hands. If you have never tried out a turbo sit and go, it can be a lot of fun.
